Step
1 . Download dual_boot_installer

file
from Dingux

For
the purpose of this instruction, extract the contents within
the zip file into a folder named “dual
boot installer”.
|
|
Step
2 . Find out your LCD controller module →
In
your Dingoo's System
setup → About
screen,
press the following on the D-pad:
↑ → ↓ ↑ → ↓ You
should see LCD MODULE: ILI9325
or
ILI9331 If
you have something other than the two above then I don't know,
Google about it or ask in Dingoo forums.
|
|
Step
3 . Connect Dingoo in USB boot mode →
Hold
B
button
on the Dingoo while connecting it to your computer via USB
cable. Dingoo screen should be blank and Windows should find a
new device: JZ4740
USB Boot Device →
Install
that device by going to Device
Manager → Other devices → JZ4740 USB Boot
Device. Example:

→
Choose
“Update
Driver Software...”,
then point to the dual
boot installer
folder
that you extracted and install the driver. Example:

|
|
Step
4
.
Flash the Dingoo to be dualbootable →
While
still having the Dingoo plugged in “USB boot mode”,
open the dual
boot installer
folder
within Command Prompt. Here are two different ways to do
this: The
easy way
(for
Vista and 7): Hold down the SHIFT
key
while
Right
Clicking on the dual
boot installer
folder,
then choose the option: “Open
command window here”
The
manual way
(for
XP, Vista and 7): Go to START
→ Run...,
then type in: cmd Then
in Command Prompt window, type the following: cd
Desktop cd dual boot installer
(this
is assuming the dual
boot installer
folder
is located on your desktop)
Example:

→
Next, type in these two lines inside Command Prompt to flash
your Dingoo:
(you can copy and paste them into the Command Prompt using
Right Click → Paste) 1st
line:
usbtool-win
1 hwinit.bin 0x80000000
Example:

2nd
line (type in only one
of the line below that matches with your LCD controller
module):
usbtool-win
1 zImage_dual_boot_installer_ILI9325
0x80600000 or usbtool-win
1 zImage_dual_boot_installer_ILI9331
0x80600000
Example:

→
At
this point you should see the dual boot info appearing on your
Dingoo screen:
 Read
the agreement terms and follow the instructions on the screen
to finish flashing your Dingoo.

Step
5 . Install Dingux into miniSD card Connect
your miniSD card to the computer, preferably a blank one and
formatted as FAT32. I recommend to connect through a card
reader, not through your Dingoo because the transfer speed is
slower through it.
Download
these two files from Dingux
download page: →
Dingux
system →
Dingux
toolchain
First
extract Dingux
system,
you should see: rootfs,
zImage-ILI9325
and zImage-ILI9331 Which
ever of the zImage file that end with your LCD controller
module, rename that file to simply: zImage Then
copy both rootfs
and zImage
to your miniSD card.
Second
extract Dingux
toolchain.
You'll need to extract it twice and you'll get a folder named
“mipsel-linux-uclibc”. Copy everything within
that folder to your miniSD card.
*You
cannot use Dingux yet until you install a menu system to it,
such as dmenu or dinguXMB (see Step 6). *If you need a free
software to extract the two files above, try 7-Zip or PeaZip.
|
|
Step
6 . Optional: Get free games and boot into Dingux. →
To
get a collection free games for Dingux, download the “Dingoo
Local Pack”
by
toddler,
which will have a menu system included.
→
To
boot into Dingux, insert the miniSD card with Dingux in it into
your Dingoo. Then turn on the Dingoo and immediately hold the
Select
button
until you see Tux:

*If
you hold Select and the bootloader cannot find Dingux then the
boot screen will freeze and you'll have to reset Dingoo via the
reset hole.
